USDOT and MC number lookup
Type a USDOT or MC number to see who it is registered to, whether it shows as active, and when its MCS-150 update is due, from FMCSA public census data. Then see that name and number laid out on a truck door.
What this shows
The name (trade name if the carrier has one, otherwise the legal name), the city and state, the MC number, whether the record shows as active, and the date of the last MCS-150 update, all from the FMCSA motor carrier census, the public dataset behind SAFER. We don't show phone numbers, emails or officer names. For operating status, insurance, authority and inspection history, open the full record on SAFER.
Why the name and number on the door matter
Under 49 CFR 390.21T, a commercial motor vehicle needs the carrier's legal name or single trade name and "USDOT" followed by the number on both sides of the power unit, in a color that contrasts with the paint and readable from 50 feet in daylight. The name on the door should match the name on your FMCSA record, which is what this lookup shows.

Questions
Can I look up a carrier by MC number or by name here?
By MC number, yes: pick MC number above the box. By name, not here. SAFER's Company Snapshot lets you search by name.
The name shown is wrong or old. How do I fix it?
The name comes from your FMCSA registration, so it changes when you update that record (the MCS-150 update). How the MCS-150 update works.
Is this lookup official?
No. It reads the public FMCSA census data, but the official record is SAFER at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov.
