State rules

Truck lettering requirements by state.

The federal rule (name, USDOT, both sides, 50 feet) applies everywhere. This is what each state adds. States with a detail page have a state number or a size rule of their own; the rest follow the federal rule with an intrastate threshold. Checked September 2026.
